The Quiet Ways You’re Losing Yourself Daily
In this post, I share how choosing integrity over approval can change everything. By keeping your promises, even the small ones, you rebuild trust in yourself, step away from people-pleasing, and start living in alignment with your deepest values. This is about reclaiming your power, finding clarity, and stepping fully into the person you were meant to be. -Rebecca Misek
The Quiet Ways You’re Losing Yourself Daily
There’s something I want to place in your heart today. Think of it like a seed… small at first, but with the power to grow roots and change how you live, love, and even see yourself.
That seed is integrity.
And before your mind runs to heavy definitions, let’s pause. Integrity isn’t about “being dishonest” or “falling short.” I believe most of us want to live true to who we are. But here’s the truth: integrity is about congruence.
It’s when your words, actions, and values line up.
It’s keeping your word to yourself… to others.
Why Integrity Matters

My mom repeatedly said, “Say what you mean and mean what you say.” At the time it felt exhausting, but now I see the treasure she was giving me.
Because when you keep your word, you build trust.
When you break it even in the tiniest ways you chip away at that trust. Not only with others, but with yourself.
Think about how often you’ve promised, Tomorrow I’ll wake up early… I’ll stick to my plan… I’ll finally start that project. And then you don’t. Every time that happens, a little piece of you stops believing yourself.
And here’s the kicker: integrity isn’t only about “big” commitments. It shows up in the quiet, unseen ones too. Like the rhythms your family counts on. When those break down, it’s not about the dishes or the trash. It’s about the trust underneath
The Cost of Living Out of Alignment
You’ll know when you’ve stepped out of integrity, because you’ll feel it.
You’ll snap more easily. You’ll feel drained in conversations. You’ll carry frustration that isn’t about the moment. It’s about the disconnection inside you.
Even your body knows. If you chronically under-eat or overwork, your body stops trusting you. It starts to protect itself because it doesn’t believe you’ll show up. That’s integrity on a cellular level.
Integrity and Identity
At its core, integrity is about alignment. When who you say you are matches how you live, there’s a strength that radiates out of you. But when it doesn’t, doubt creeps in, and people-pleasing takes over.
The more we bend to others’ expectations, the easier it is to lose ourselves. But integrity is the call back to your truest self. To the place where your identity is grounded, unshaken by circumstances.
That’s where freedom lives.
The Power of Accountability
Accountability has gotten a bad reputation like it’s about catching mistakes. But real accountability lifts. It’s someone who sees you clearly and says:
“I believe in you. I believe you can walk this out. I believe you’re stronger than you think.”
That’s the kind of community worth building. Not one built on shame, but on grace. A place where you can be fully seen, deeply known, and reminded of who you already are.
